Gosh, I really hate to see people think there is something wrong
with sending voltages down a feeder to control relays.
I'd like to personally see a bad RCS-4 unit, in case there is
something wrong with current production. If someone can send one
here, I'll see that they get reimbursed. There was a change made
recently, using an external transformer. I hope that isn't causing a
problem.
ALL of my beverages have AC running down the cables, and
always have. Many systems use that method. It is absolutely
incorrect to assume it causes any problem with a proper feedline.
For example, my Beverages in Cleveland Ohio used 48 volts 60 Hz
AC piped down the coax along with tone signals. My current
Beverages 2500 feet away use voltage down the cables, just like
the RCS-4. So do my receiving verticals.
One thing to be aware of, bad connections, open shields, or water
in the fittings will cause a lot of noise in a hurry when there is AC
or DC on the feedline.
It is an absolute must that feedlines have dry fittings, and good
connections are made, when control voltages are piped down the
cable. 99% of the problems in the past turned out to be in the
feedlines.
