In my time as a serious 160m operator from VK6 - clocking up my fourth year
- once mid April comes around the 160m conditions into Europe usually die a
sudden death until about August.

However, this year, about one morning in three, so far there has been
workable signals from Europe in the period -1hour/+15 minutes after VK6
sunrise. On several occasions, 3B7RF has been audible over an hour after
sunrise (although unworkable).

My feeling is that rather than an increase in solar activity making 160m a
place to forget outside of the main season, those nice sunspots seem to have
spiced things up rather nicely and it is worth checking the band at almost
any time.
