Same deal here. I use Icom in conjunction with a 10 ft high 160 dipole for
receive. Both Rx and the dipole are grounded thru 50 ohms on transmit with a
small relay. The relay is powered directly from the 8V Tx output of ACC1.

Before the 160 dipole went up I used the 80 vee (on the same tower used as
a ground plane on 160 Tx) for receive. The 50 ohm 2 watt vee grounding
resistor got smelly hot while CQ'ing in the contests. It's worth the
protection effort.

The relay is some surplus job I got at a swap meet.

Subject: TopBand: Rx Antenna Disconnect Circuit

I would like to build a circuit to disconnect my rx loop
during transmit. I'm using an Icom 765 and would like this
circuit to be the simplest possible...ie...no other power
supplies but could utilize a 9v battery, only performs the
disconnect/ground rx loop function. What would you suggest?
Thanks,
