I had the same problem with my Ten-Tek Corsair II when I first became
active on 160 meters.  The problem went away when I was listening on my
transmit antenna.  I surmised the problem was RF getting back into the
"unprotected" receiver antenna input, which is where the loops and
beverages were connected.  The problem was initially cured by shorting out
that input during transmit.
