I might add to the list that several of the newer transceivers also cut the
leading character on make, this is exaggerated in the QSK mode. Seems funny
that for almost 20 years the majority of the manufacturers still can't get
it right.
The TS-950SDX is one of the few radios that has the timing right. The rise
time is also adjustable by menu. Not to be overlooked is the joy of
operating QSK. I have found in many cases the transceiver is dumping power
into the amplifier before the amp relay has settled. This can cause the
relay to burn and pump the transmit ALC. In all cases I would suggest using
solid state switch to key the amplifier picking up at least a few
milli-seconds before PA gets hit with drive power.
