"Top DXer Bob Eshleman, W4DR, has been working with Omar, YK1AO, for
about 6 months to get Syria on 160 meters. The antenna had to fit on
a 45 X 150 foot flat without any wires running off the roof. A
commercially manufactured top loaded vertical with an elevated radial
system was chosen. The antenna will be 4 stories up and will easily
handle 1500 watts from Omar's amplifier. With a system like this, Bob
"He should be regularly heard in North America." Omar will be able to
pick the antenna system up in February provided Bob is able to act
quickly. The cost of this antenna system will be around $500.00 and
Bob is seeking some financial assistance from both individuals and
clubs. Contributions may be sent to Bob Eshleman, W4DR,
1818 Manakintown Ferry Road, Midlothian, VA 23113."
I spoke to Bob yesterday and he is asking all who can afford $5 or $10
to pitch in and help. He is prepared to fund this project himself but
would like a little help from any of you that need YK. He said that
he will provide Omar a list of all contributors giving $5 or more.
