To the Low Band Bulletin:
Dear Lance
Preparations for our new DXpedition are nearly finished. Now it's time to
let you know about our plans for 1998. After activities from VK9CR/VK9XY '96
and S21XX/P29VXX '97 our destination for 1998 will be the Chatham Islands.
Our proved team Joe (YB1AQS), Mar (DL3DXX), Jan (DL7UFN) and
Falk (DK7YY) will be new accompanied by Manfred (DK1BT) and Tom
(DL2OAP). The increased team size gives good chances to bring 3 complete
short wave stations to the island without huge penalties for excess baggage.
Flights and Accommodations are confirmed already. We will stay in the
Chatham Lodge from February 23 to March 9. Like the years before operation
will take place mostly on CW and on the low bands. Again there will be the
Titanex V80E vertical with us. That means there is a second chance for all
who missed the recent ZL7AA activity on top band. We will operate 160
whenever possible to reach the main regions Stateside, Europe and
Japan. Although working Europe on top band will be very difficult we will try
near our grayline times every evening and morning. Western Europeans: don't
forget the long path!
DL7UFN and DK1BT assure to operate a lot RTTY. Therefore we bring a
brandnew Titanex 5 Band Logper to the island. Further antennas will allow us to
be active on all shortwave bands including the WARC bands with at least two
stations on air in parallel.
A call sign is not given yet.
