Hello Jerry:
Thank you very much for the donation. Merv and I are really going to try and
get this trip off and running. We have the amp and we must hand carry it. We
would have liked a bit more power, but that would not have been able to put
in the bins above on a 747. But 600 watts is sure better than 80 watts. We
will also take along a better xcvr than they have. Their Icom 750A is a bit
old and needs some help.
We are not cashing any checks until we are sure that we can pull this trip
off. That makes it easier to return the donations.
Now how can Merv and I work BY1QH on 160 ?? Hmmm.
We are in e-mail contact with them several times a week. Merv K9FD is their
QSL manager since our trip in June. We really had a great time at Tsinghua
University. We worked most of the St.Louis gang on 20 meters.
