Hello,

A couple postings have mentioned the Associated Press story that appeared
recently in the local newspapers. In summary, scientists at Yale and NASA
predicted Cycle 23 will not be a big one. But the last couple paragraphs
said this prediction goes against recent history of the last few solar
cycles, so we'll just have to wait and see.

There's another prediction, with details on how it came about, on the web.
Back in September a group of scientists convened at Boulder to predict Cycle
23 SSN and geomagnetic activity. In summary, they predict Cycle 23 will be
similar to the last few cycles - big. In case you're interested, this
prediction is at http://www.sel.noaa.gov/info/Cycle23.html. It's 4 pages of
in depth reading with figures.
