The first spot said HR8. Subsequent spots here said 5R8. I was reading
email with my back to the packet terminal and AJ6T called me on the LL
to hip me to what was going on. I got to 1832 in a big hurry--so fast
that I had the wrong antenna on. I called myself, but myself did not
come back to me, and left shortly thereafter.

What amazed me was the number of AH's who had themselves convinced that
a previously-unknown 5R on 1832 could suddenly appear and be 10 over 9
in western North America, or that someone as visible as myself would
pick up and go to the other side of the world without telling anyone.

When I told W7GG he was calling a SLIM, he sent "FU." Another W7 took me
off-freq to suggest that perhaps FCC had screwed up and issued another
NI6T callsign. Right! What planet are these people from?

This was not the first time my callsign has been purloined by some
lowlife. During the ZL8 DXpedition, ZL8RI was operating split on RTTY
and someone--I am pretty sure I know who--was deliberately QRMing him
with my call. I became aware of it because I heard friends on my DX Club
repeater talking about it. At least they knew it was not I. When I came
on the repeater, the QRM ceased---we know he lives within that coverage
area. I don't know if this is the same guy---the jerk I am thinking of
has not been on 160 much, if at all.
