In my haste to work through about 180 incoming email messages this
morning, I managed to erase the post about the problem on 1827.
In the USA, AM stations are spaced by 10 kHz. Recently, there was a
long discussion on the Reflector on intermodulation problems,
producing garbage every 10 kHz.
In the rest of the world, AM stations are spaced by 9 kHz. Exactly
the same effects will happen, with garbage on multiples of 9 kHz
(1818, 1827, 1836, 1845 kHz). This may well be the answer to the
problem. Use the same solutions (band-pass filters, high-pass
filters, or even some of the more esoteric solutions like tube
amplifiers, pinches of moonlight, the shadow of a black cat...).
