While correct in that the older radios used Hi Z mikes, it is perfectly
normal and acceptable technically to use a Lo Z mike into a Hi Z
input. The only drawback is a Lo Z mike may appear to have low or
inadequate output level requiring increased mike gain.
While on the other hand, a Hi Z mike does not work well on a Lo Z
input. Most of our radios today are suitable for either a Hi Z or a Lo
Z, while a Low Z mike is preferred.

Since the Argosy and other early Ten Tec rigs used high-impedance mics, wired
with stereo phone plugs, it may be easier to find a used HI-Z hand mic, such as
earlier Shure, and wire it yourself, easy to do.

All the more important reason to get the correct mike and connector which is

Bob,
The Argosy has standard !/4" 3-way plug . Don't see anything suitable on
their site but will send a email to find out for sure.
