I believe there is a CIV jack on the back of the Omni VI. The Omni VI
uses the Icom command set and all you need is a USB to CIV converter.
Search for one online. That's a much simpler hookup.

You'll need a USB to serial adapter. Something like this

I would think the cable that's used to connect the rig to the Dell laptop will
work with an adapter like this. If not, the pinout for the cable is in the
Omni VI manual.
