Agreed in principle...
I use a Pro 2, nowhere near the performance level of an Eagle or Orion. It has
the digiwidji auto notch, useless as any notch outside the AGC loop is.
However, its manual notch is truly manual, and very effective without desensing
the receiver. This makes it every bit as useful as the old fashioned Q
multiplier notch filters like the Drake receivers and Collins receivers had.
That is the primary reason I don't have either an Eagle or Orion.
For a few years, Ten Tec did promise to put the notch filter inside the Orion
AGC loop but never did. It must have been harder to do than expected.
