Maybe this will help.
I had a very similar if not the same problem with my Jupiter and it turned
out to be the coax jumper from the Jupiter to my MFJ RF Feedthru Window
Panel.
It took a while to troubleshoot this. I carefully checked the antenna (trap
vertical), the balun mounted at the base of the antenna, the coax run from
house to the balun and none of this appeared to be the problem.
After bypassing the Window Panel by connecting the Jupiter directly to the
coax run from the antenna the problem went away.
The coax connectors on the window panel appeared to be ok so I bought a new
coax jumper to connect the Jupiter to the window panel and from that point
on I have not had any problems.

Subject: [TenTec] Jupiter intermittent receive
Hi everyone,
I'm new to the list and I have a problem with a Jupiter that I hope
someone here can help with. The Jupiter I have has developed an
intermittent receive problem. At times it will receive Ok, then the
signal drops like the attenuator was turned on. I first thought it was
a bad connection on the connectors which connect the filter board and
the RF board, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Anyone seen this
before or know of any common receive problems with the Jupiter?
