Yes, at least some...or,maybe all...546-C's have a lighted index line on the
dial escutcheon (at least thru s/n 35xx, which I have). To the best of my
knowledge, all 546-C's have digital readouts. So, whereas the index line was
essential to determining operating frequency on analog readout OMNI's, it is
cosmetic or ornamental on the 546-C.

Is the 546C supposed to have a tiny red light beam shining on the tuning knob
skirt ? I bought this radio used many years ago and it never had the light ,
but there is a tiny slit underside of the bezel . Either the bulb is burnt out
or maybe they never used it on the later models with digital readout ? This
has been a great rig with no complaints over the years .
