Tom, you hit a hot button with me.
BRING BACK THE REAL S-METER.
Even if it is in addition to some digital bargraph.
Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear . . .
Fundamentally what you are saying with the rest is, we need definable
"personality modules" which can be instantly recalled. We might have one
set up for SSB another for Contesting, and yet another for a 2nd operator,
etc.
Oh, come to think of it, this has already been done, with a tiny card
reader. You just insert your own card which stores your own personal
personality module. We just re-invented the wheel.

Actually, Rick, I was picturing something like the original Omni or Corsair.
Difference being that the knobs are software programmable via an app on your
PC or phone... for instance, instead of selecting from 3 xtal filters with a
knob, you select from several DSP bandwidths. Several of your favorite
setups can be stored to flash, and maybe on the back a switch to pick which
one, or to set factory defaults. No computer display... something more like
an LED freq display, and a real meter. Keep all of the computer stuff on a
computer, radio stuff on the radio. Look at what Harley-Davidson did by
going with a retro look... maybe there's some interest? This would not, of
course, be everyone's cup of tea. Some want latest and greatest.
As far as the negative comments... haters gonna hate. Keep up the good work
Rick & Mike! A thankless job if there ever was one...
