Some have asked out things came out with the Jupiter that went dead.
back in December.
After I sent it off, I got a call from Ten-Tec asking what was the
problem I encountered with the radio since it powered up and worked
well when they put it on the bench. So maybe a bad connector got
jiggled back in place during shipping. Who knows. They did an overall
checkup and tune up which included a long term test to try to induce
failure. It just kept working there and since it came back it has been
working FB here.
Two points I learned from the experience are:
1. Get in rig and double check all connectors before sending off for
repair.
2. The Ten-Tec service department does a good, thorough job and went an
extra mile all for a fair price.
I got the rig used a few months ago and while not a contest radio I
find it a really nice rig and a pleasure to use. So even if no
repairs as such were needed, it was worth it just to have it checked up
and tweaked.
