Thanks for the info. The best bet for saving bucks on a K3 or K3S is to
buy one of the used K3s that are coming on the market as guys replace
theirs with the new K3S. And the best way to find one is on the Elecraft
reflector. You can upgrade a K3 to 90% of a K3S by replacing the synth
board. User replaceable, very easy. About $250. Two of these boards if
the rig has the 2nd RX. The other thing you want to upgrade is the
transverter interface that adds a second RX antenna input and upgrades
the preamp. The preamp matters on 6M and 10M.
