What I think TT could sell a lot of....
I do not care who makes this radio, I will sell my Eagle to buy:
1. 100W, QSK, low TX/RX noise, Separate RX antenna input.
2. Ability to add an identical second unit as an upgrade for:
SO2R;
Split band;
Receive phasing(very useful on 160-30);
Transmit phasing(each radio has a complete transmit chain) WITH, and this is
a big deal. management of the difference in match as transmit phase is
steered. This is something that is very difficult to do manually but easy to
do in software if each radio controls a matching network.. Why? Because as
the phase is changed for steering the impedance of the elements changes and
adjustment to match changes the phase. It's the biggest problem with phase
steerable transmit antennas.
Purchaser would buy one radio, learn how good it is, and would find it hard
to resist a second. A nice ad on for folks with more $ would be external
remote tuners with KW capability so an amplifier could be added for each
antenna.
There is nothing like this on the market. A good quality receive only RF
phasing unit is $600 from DX engineering. Transmit phasing with relays and
switched matching networks, is a PITA, especially for multiband antennas.
QRP: Report on the MFJ-9296 QRP CW transmitter/receiver. It works great.
Using it with an old $5 CB SWR bridge and the Johnson matchbox. Well worth
$220 for a new 6 band radio. One thing I don't like. Not QSK. At 22WPM I can
hear a little between words but can not hear between characters.
Audio is a little weak on higher bands with cheap headphones. Fine with good
ones.
