Look over the wiring and parts carefully for smoked components, int the
stages where you heard sound and saw smoke.
You are looking for popped open capacitors as a first priority.
Also examine resistors for shifted values, and smoke damage.
This might have been a transitory event, where a connection popped off a
terminal and shorted a voltage temporarily before burning out the
shorted connection.
But all the possible issues 'should' have left clear smoke damage
interior of the area where you saw smoke come out.
Use a high intensity light to see things like changes in color code on
resistors, or dark areas under the chassis.
The Corsair is a pretty rugged and durable radio, well worth fixing.
There should be several expert repair types on this list who might offer
related failure experiences.
I have operated a friend's Corsair, and heard his tales of near
overloads. Instead of fuses, the Corsair uses a fast operation circuit
breaker on the external Ten Ted power supply. But it usually survives.
