The dynamic range of the A/D converter is not the dynamic range that can be
recovered. The bandwidth (sample rate) is also important. Increased sample
rate for a given bandwidth increases the signal to noise ratio(the dynamic
range). Things improve by as much as 6dB for a factor of four increase in
the sample rate.
