I sent my Orion 2 for repairs to Tentec last month with mixed feelings about
how long repairs would take. To my surprise and delight, the rig was sent
back, successfully repaired, in a week, battery and capacitors replaced.

Subject: [TenTec] service/repair ?
been a member off and on here through out the yrs, owned many a ten tec rig and
send a few in for repair.
has anyone sent their radio in for repair lately ?
i shipped my omni VII down there yesterday and i'm hoping for a positive
turnout.
the mic amp board was doing funny stuff, a bunch of loud static and humming
whenever the mic cable was disturbed.
any mic, any cable on TX ssb. even when keyed by the KEY. just kept getting
worse
i removed the case, 4 screws on the face, moved the face fwd just a bit to take
the 3 screws that retain the mic amp board to the face and saw nothing......
re soldered all 8 mic pins, no luck
searched the board over with a 10X lens. did this routine 4X's and could not
find a thing.
gave in and wrote ten tec, took about 3 weeks for this reply:
Our service policy is there will be a one hour minimum charge of $140.00
dollars for each transceiver or equipment sent in for repair. If more than one
hour is needed to make the repair then additional charges of $125.00 dollars
per
hour for each hour needed to make the repair. Any parts used for the repair and
return shipping are additional charges. Turn-around time on repairs have been
two to three weeks
keeping my fingers crossed, should be in TN on thurs.
