Folks,
when replacing incandescent lamps with LEDs, once you solve the problem of
the voltage/current by placing them in parallel or series, and using a
voltage dropping resistor when needed, there are two tricks worth knowing.
One of them is to use a file or sandpaper to scratch the outer surface.
Once is opaque, light will be difused and less focalized. Please see:

The second trick helps with "corner" lights when the LED fits in a hole but
you need the focus on the side. You may see the concept on this blog in

The method to get a glass-like finishing after using the saw or the file is
a cautious use of a propane torch:

It may be wise to practice first with low cost LEDs.
