One thing that helps when running the Scout on battery is to minimize
voltage drop: Replace the spring-loaded fuse holders in the power cord
with holders for the blade-type automotive ATC fuses. Clean the power
connectors with Deoxit and make sure they mate tightly.

Otherwise, the rig/questionable module(s) may need to just sit and "bake"

speak compared to the current generation of radios and thus is reasonably
easy to troubleshoot/repair....
