I'm with you on the 73 Wade, but when I began ham radio, everyone on AM (and
SSB) always said "the handle here is whatever", nobody ever used the term
name. However in CW we always sent name and not handle. Today most send
"op" instead of name.
I guess the CBers may have driven people away from saying handle. I still
say it sometimes. Old habits die hard.

*I have no problem with 73. I am bothered by 73's however. My understanding
is that 73 means Best Wishes. Multipule 73's seems redundant. We also don't
have a Handle but, do have a name. And hearing things like " Is this Channel
in use? " and " Kx4xx here for License Preservation. " just drive me crazy,
don't know why. And one of my all time favorites " I am QSY and QRT. " Which
is it? O. K. sorry folks ..... back to Ten Tec stuff?*
