Perhaps I am missing or misreading the all of the posts, but what are
TenTec's plan for new transceivers similar to the Orion II or Omni VII
Yes, service is superb.
However, the pool of radio operators is dwindling, therefore the market is
smaller. Why would a business design a new product if the market can not
support it.
Toyko High Power sound familiar? Yes, the filed for bankruptcy because of:
"the recent depression in the industrial RF power products area [which] has
led to the very difficult financial position".
I believe there was another manufacturer that pulled plug on HF amps but I
can not verify my statement - mild memory loss.

They still service my 509's and 405 amps. From the 70's and 80's.
Thats not fading away. For that reason alone I am a loyal TT customer. And
when it is time for new, that will be my first stop.
The list of amateur radio manufacturers that still service all their gear
is a short list. If the big three still does, I would be shocked.
Plus I do not think rf concepts would want to deal with the pr nightmare
of the demise of a great American radio label like TT. I could be wrong,
but wouldnt bet on it.
My thoughts. 73 Mike KU4YP.

Well Jim,
I'd love to own a power amp, or even an amp (again). Haven't had one
since I had to sell off my two SB-200's & HT-41 over 12 years ago due to
(lack of) job issues.
And if I could buy one right now, new or used, I'd love it to be a
Ten-Tec or an Alpha.
The shekels, though, just ain't there right now. And with Little Miss
Field Day going off to college in the fall (donations towards her
education welcome!), there likely won't be in the near future.
So. while I may or may not be considered a "true believer" (I'd say "true
blue believer" but, while the dot has been black, orange, or red, I don't
think it's ever been blue... at least, not from the factory), there are
extenuating circumstances that prevent me from currently owning an amp.
(Now, if anyone has a working spare amp that they'd like to donate to me,
I won't turn that down either!)

Thanks Frank. No question about the quality of the Ten Tec amps. I'm
quite happy with mine too. But I think the answer to my question is
that, among this group of "true believers," only a few own a Ten Tec
power amp, and only two of those were purchased directly from Ten Tec in
the past 20 years. Or did I miss someone?
