Interestingly, a friend's Orion II went in to TT a few months back for
unrelated reasons, and when it came back, the controls were all very "tight"
- hard to turn, even the main tuning knobs. After a short while, the Main
Volume knob froze solid. He called TT and they had him ship it back, and he
just got it back. Hasn't checked out what they did. Can't figure out why
anything on the front panel was changed as they replaced capacitors and did
something else minor (but expensive). First thing he did was check the
serial number because it seemed like a totally different radio. All the
controls had worked freely and easily when it was sent in. Apparently they
are having a problem with these currently. Odd.

Subject: [TenTec] Brand new Omni 7 broke already!!
Darn it?..
I got a brand new Omni 7 via TT's mega sale just when the sale started, and
finally put the rig to good use about 3 weeks ago?
Broke already!!
The af/rf gain control froze up solid after minimal use?very hard to turn
and no click, and the pbt/bw and multi knobs click feel stiff?compared to my
older Omni 7 with silver knob skirts.
Anyone else have any problem with the knobs?
Will call TT in the am and see what to do?probably will have to send it to
the hospital.
