First, let me clarify: BandMaster is free for the first 30 days.
After that it costs $25 to register.
I have downloaded the latest OmniRig and Orion driver, as well as
Bandmaster, and installed both.
I'm not getting it to communicate correctly with the EAGLE, though some
things are working.
Specifically, it is not showing the frequency correctly; it's showing 00.000
MHz.
Then it switches to "Rig is not responding".
After a few seconds it switches back to show frequency and mode, but still
shows 00.000.
However it is showing the mode correctly and if I manually change modes, it
is updated in the BandMaster window to show the new mode.
The Bandwidth is still adjustable, but since the program is not correctly
talking to the Eagle, that may mean nothing at this point.
Now the PROBLEM: If I double click on a call sign on 40m while in LSB, it
changes the mode to USB, but doesn't change frequencies. This mode-change
problem is the same problem I was having with WIN-TEST, except in WIN-TEST
it was at least changing to the correct frequency.
If John can get BandMaster and WIN-TEST to function properly, then we (he)
can claim victory.
I'm curious to why the frequency is not displaying.
I do not have WIN-TEST installed on this computer.
It is a new computer since contesting last year.
If I can free up some time, I will install it this afternoon and see how it
works.

IMO the best software would be "BandMaster"
It is for free and is a stand-alone version of the "Band Map" imbedded in
many contest logging programs.
Source: DX-Atlas
http://www.dxatlas.com/BandMaster/
The download link is on the top right.
Of course this is not just Eagle software, it will work with any radio that
is compatible with OmniRig.
Install BandMaster.
Also install OmniRig.
You can initially running it by choosing the ORION2 drivers which is one of
the many files that get downloaded when you download the "INI files for
OmniRig".
Both OmniRig and the INI files can be downloaded near the bottom of this
page:
http://www.dxatlas.com/Download.asp
Once installed, you will have to define com port and baud rate, etc.
Use the standard parameters for the Eagle.
The program should run pretty much OK except for the two bugs I pointed out
in my previous email - which is also below in this email.
** ATTENTION JOHN: I don't have a .INI file for the Eagle; I just use the
Orion2 file which is in the INI package. I once tried to modify the Orion
file to fix the bandwidth, but my driver didn't work at all, so I deleted it
and just used the Orion2 file.

Subject: Re: [TenTec] WIN-TEST OmniRig Orion
John,
I have been trying to reach Oliver all weekend but to no avail.
The problem is, all of France is on vacation right now.
I believe I can get you a full license for free, but not before I find
Oliver, wherever he may be.
Perhaps he was off for IOTA this weekend.
Here is a problem description of what does not work with WIN-TEST / bandmap:
Known Bugs:
1. Bandwidth: (front panel control knob) no longer functions after the
software has taken over control of the radio. The only way to change the
bandwidth of the Eagle is to exit the software, which returns control to the
Eagle's front panel. All other front panel controls seem to function
normally.
2. Mode: When using OmniRig and the Orion2 drivers within a software
application such as WIN-TEST, and working with the Band Map, each time you
double click on a station in the band map window, the Eagle jumps to the
correct frequency, but the radio is placed into Lower Sideband. Normally it
should remain in the same mode you are working in. So when working CW, it
jumps to LSB and you must switch it back to CW manually, using the front
panel Mode button. When working USB, it switches to LSB manually and you
must return to USB using the front panel Mode button.
Note: Perhaps it's the other way around, always going into USB, not LSB.
It's been 8 months since I last used it. To test this, try it on one of the
upper bands, then try it again on one of the lower bands. It will be
apparent which mode is the default mode after every double-click within the
Band Map.

Subject: [TenTec] WIN-TEST OmniRig Orion
Well, that couldn't have been any easier, I downloaded Win-Test, omnirig,
and configured it for an Orion, and have that part working.
Now, if anyone has any specific issues with the Orion ini file, please let
me and I will take a look at it. I don't know much about WinTest and all
that it can do right now other than how to view frequency changes in WinTest
when I change them on the front panel of the Orion.
Know this.... The Eagle is a subset of the Orion. So it should be easy,
right? Will let you know if I work it out or not.
Rick, Attention Rick..... Mr. I Want WinTest (lol, just kidding) If you can
please email your eagle .ini file (rename it to .jsh or .pdq or something, I
don't believe .ini files make it through some email exchanges.
Thanks Bill Gates.....
Thanks, and 73,
