The Double Eagle was supposed to be out by the end of this year, or early next year, with another rig coming along about a year behind. But, I would be surprised if the new owners stuck to that agenda....Toby K4NH

I would inject yet another reason for the sale - despite the naysayers, I

Rick,

That's a good observation about the logistics issues which would arise if
there is a temporary location in the works. I'd also "second" another
reason
as posted by Darrell VE7IU: "When RF Concepts purchased Alpha, they reduced
prices. Same tactic again?" RF Concepts may be willing to make an
investment
in the future by way of at least temporarily accepting a lower profit
margin
from reduced prices as a means of increasing market share. While the quote
may not be exactly as he said it, I think the old Mark Twain quip "Rumors
of
my demise have been greatly exaggerated" applies to Ten-Tec here.

That being said, I'm curious to see what may happen in the secondary market
if/when folks start putting their extra/older gear on the block to free up
funds so they can take advantage of the sale.

Let's read the original announcement again, carefully; particularly this:

"The company is currently seeking a new operations facility in the
Sevierville area to more efficiently house factory operations, part of

engineering resources, and technical and customer support services."

George pointed out that moving inventory, especially boxed inventory, is
not expensive.
But what if you have no place to move it to?
What would you do with it?

My bet:
- they have sold the old building and land and must vacate it sooner than
they had planned.
- They have not yet found a suitable new building.
- The crew will have to go to some temporary location until they find a
new
home.
- And the best thing to do will existing inventory is to dump it ASAP,
rather than pay storage somewhere.

THAT would explain the sudden fire sale.
If true, there is no cause for any negative thinking.
It's just a sound business decision.
