Correct. But with the Paragon series and Omni V & VI series, anytime you have a 
mike connected along with the  back panel source too then you have both 
connected.  Use the mike when needed but disconnect the rear pnl connection. 
Same when using the audio in on the rear, disconnect the mike. 

Again, bond all equipment together at the power supply and forget abt a 
dedicated external ground. 

If issues exist then address any common mode problems.
