While I haven't measured it in some time, I seem to recall the info that
Barry stated is correct for the AM mode.

I might be wrong, but I believe the AM tx bw is fixed (3KHz audio,
6KHz wide am signal) and the bw and roll off controls are ignored in
AM.

said, on the local 160 AM net, to sound just exactly like I do face to

The transmitted pattern as seen on a FLEX-1500 in panadapter mode shows
about a 18 dB roll off between 300 Hz and 3300 Hz not at all unlike the
pattern of a commercial AM station.

I'm told that I sound acceptable for a non-boatachor using the Omni VII.
I
believe the audio is adjustable on the O7 using the AM mode, but I
haven't
tried real hard to improve my audio any. Since we're on the topic, I'll
give the Eagle credit where credit is due. I'm always complimented on
how
well I sound using the Eagle. I use the same mic for both rigs (TT 709).
I
check into an AM net on Friday evenings and us an AL-80a for extra kick,
and
some of the fellas are hard pressed to believe I'm using a modern rig.
:-)
The others usually talk about it later when the frequency switches back
over
to SSB. You hear them talking about how well the Eagle sounds and you
can
tell they're mulling over looking into getting one.

I’ve used my Omni VII on AM on 7.290 and they say it sounds great. It
does
lack the punch of the heavy iron guys,
I run a Centaur amplifier for some added kick, sometimes 40 meters and
AM
don’t play well together.

I haven't really tried the OMNI VII as an AM transmitter since I have
others -- class E, class D, Johnson, etc. I wonder if anyone on this
reflector has.
