True, you would need a sweep generator to align the bandpass circuits.
You can check the underside of the bandpass board for cold solder joints.
Does switching the receiver preamp on and off make a difference. If not,
I would suspect problems in the preamp, like a bad transistor.
Likewise, don't mess with the BFO/carrier oscillator frequency trimmers,
unless you have a good frequency counter.

The Corsair (and C II) does not have the "elevator" preselector tuning. It

of the filter by
improperly tweaking the inductors.
"Aligning" those would be my last resort and I do mean LAST. I suggest
checking with Ten-
Tec service for advice.

Yeh, EVERYTHING.
There are no shortcuts, Spencer.
The only way you can be sure that it is performing near specs is to
align everything., starting at the front end and working your way
through the radio.
It's quite easy if you have the right equipment for it.
Most often the cause of a poor sensitivity on those older rigs,
especially if it seems to different from band to band is, someone who
didn't know what they are doing (and didn't read the book) has
mis-alligned the several (all?) of the permeability tuned coils in the
elevator. To align that, you will need two signals, one at the bottom
of the band and one at the top. You only need them one at a time, so
it's even possible to use a QRP transceiver with an A and B vfo.
Let me know if you need more info on this.

I have a Corsair that was given to me. The rcvr sensitivity seems
blah, some sigs on 20 and 30 meters, thats it Puts out full power. I
plan to check things starting at the speaker working to the antenna.
Are there any GOTGHA's I should look out for? I will use the rig for
CW and maybe PSK in the future. Are there any of the narrow filters
available other than new?
