Yea, the board is a pain to pull. My schematics are at the shop, and I'm
not so I can't say exactly which designator is the timing cap. It is on the
RESET line of the MP to ground and has a value of R to the 5 volt line as I
recall. This is not the same as the external reset line to the switch on
the side of the radio.
As power is applied, be it from activation of the switch on the front panel
or from the power supply, there is a reset pulse generated by the timing cap
and resistor that resets the microprocessor, but only after the operating
parameters are loaded. In other words, the MP starts with a clean load of
data.
Worth a try.

Hi, Bob,
no I have not tried that yet. it is kind of a bear Getting that PCB in and
out.
If I recall that's c5 on the logic board. Right?
I am not sure that is the problem. I have tried turning the radio on by
the power supply and seeing if I can get the thing to reset. No joy.
There is no display, and sometimes all the LEDs are on, and sometimes all
the LEDs are off

Have you changed the timing cap, 4.7 mf as I recall, on the RESET line at
the microprocessor. Sounds like the processor is running before all of
the operating parameters are loaded. I suggest using one a bit larger
up to a 10 mf to assure things start in the correct sequence. This just
slows things down a bit during initialize.

Well gang, the subject line says it all.
I am in need of a paragon logic board.
There is no display, all the LEDs light up, or some LEDs light up, or
randomly they light up at power turn on.
Thought it might be a reset problem, but so far I have not been able to
track it down.
This one is a real head scratcher.
