I run my Scout at 30 W. It will run for a couple of hours on a 7 Ah gel
battery, but 12 Ah is better.

The Scout has been run on larger Gelled battery here, (75AH); but its
receiver drain is quite a bit larger than Elecraft rigs. The Scout can
be run at QRP by turning down the power pot on its bottom. For 5 watt
full time, you can disconnect the power lead to the final, and move the
coax jumper from the final band filter to the driver, after unplugging
the coax into the final bases. That converts the 50 watt Scout to the
QRP version at 5 watts power.
