Research indicates other historic ball coloring meanings:- The use of a red ball for flag signaling was used as early as the 1800s particularly by the Navy. - The term "Red Ball" was a railroad phrase referring to express priority shipping. - The Red Ball Express was an enormous truck convoy system created by the Allies to supply their forward-area combat units moving quickly through Europe in WWII.
