[TenTec] CAT cable on Orion II?

I know that the Omni VI+ and Orion require hardware handshaking with the serial 
cable - I assume that the Orion II does as well.
Did you do something to turn off handshaking in the computer?  Many logging 
programs seem to default to handshaking off,
probably because many guys ran the CW keying on the handshaking lines.  Also, 
many cheap USB-serial cables do not implement
hardware handshaking at all.
