Man... that would be totally aggravating. \
I cannot explain what is causing it, but I think your description makes
sense. At least that is a start.
Have you tried installing N1MM logger fresh - after saving all your
special voice files in a separate backup directory, of course...?
I am a long-time software beta tester, used to seeing odd behavior from
computer applications. In cases like this, I usually try a completely
fresh install of the mother program, with all its default settings, and
then make a new voice file or two (knowing my usual ones are safely
saved in a backup folder...) to see whether that fixes the problem.
Sometimes, when I cannot find a particular rogue setting, I just start
over and it resolves the problem simply by returning the application to
its default settings. Of course if that works, then you may never
discover the root cause... but it might cure the problem and allow you
to move on.
Just MY take, anyway... I don't think it will cost you anything to try
it... ;-)

something in Logger resets my
Mic gain setting on the Orion to zero. If I turn up the Mic gain setting
while the .wav file is playing, the audio gets transmitted. Then when I
click on a function key the next time, the Mic gain is set back to zero
again. After the message plays, the Mic gain is restored to normal
level.
