Guys, you don't need any relays to do this.
There is no switching involved at all.
I have been doing what Rick is wanting to do for many years on many
different transceivers.
I was using good preselectors, not crystal filters, but the installation is
the same.
My homebrew tunable 40m preselector has its 6dB bandwidth at 30 kHz.
As I recall, the crystal filters are about 15 kHz.
I have seen these crystal filters for the 40m band, but I've never seen them
for any other bands.
The solution is, home-brew your own.
THE PROBLEM WITH THE ORION is, you have two receivers, so if you want it to
play in both receivers, it could be a little tricky. On the other hand, I
don't think the standard second RX is good enough to get within 5 kHz. of
another in-shack signal so Rick can probably just interrupt the antenna line
to the first RX.
I don't have an Orion here and I never did it to one of my Orions, but
looking at the multitude of schematics, I would say it is J1 on the "81906
RF Converter A3" board.
It looks to me like you need to pull the TMP plug out of J1, run it to the
Xtal filter IN, and then run the Xtal filter OUT back into J1. That should
do it.
To be sure, it is probably to wait for JH to get back to you.

I think it will prove elementary for Rick to use the internal rx ant line.
No reason to open up the can of worms of external T/R sequencing in a high
speed/high power contest station. Let the rig do the T/R sequencing.
