WON'T HAPPEN.
Think about it:
A few customers have a 5 year old RX board.
We ask them to build a kit so we can drop in our 5 year old boards.
Nobody (from Ten-Tec) on site tests the finished unit, but if it doesn't
work, we will expect Ten-Tec to support it.
We will expect them to write code for it and support that too.
Uh, write code for a dead product where there are only a few units in the
field?
Personally, I don't want them wasting their software engineering cycles on
that.
I'd like a better NR functionality in my Eagle.
Or instead:
Put the same effort around the Eagle's receiver (like the new RX-366 board),
and bring out a stand-alone receiver based on that.
Then they have a better receiver at only incremental cost to the users.
Then the software development they put into it can be shared with Eagle and
Orion users.
Sorry, but you guys who think there will be a receiver kit are dreaming.
Of course you are welcome to express your dreams.
I used to have dreams like that too, but then I outgrew my broomstick.

I posted the following message on December 1st and got no response or
comments
so I figured the thought of re-using the old receiver boards was too
far off the
wall.

What I think would really be cool would be for someone to develop a
design and
kit that could re-use the removed original second receiver boards from
the Orion
and turn it into a stand alone or PC coupled general coverage receiver.
Being
able to put the removed boards to some good use would make the
investment in the
RX366 feel that much better.
