John,
Thank you for the update on the RX366. I see that the basic RX366 kit with
one filter is planned to sell for $639. How many filters can be placed on
the RX366? Which filters are not included that could/should/ or might be
placed on the RX366? Are additional filter slots for specific filters or
are the additional slots for a select few of a larger list of filters? What
are the costs of these filters and is there a deal to get the kit and the
additional filters all in the same order?
An unspoken thought has been, "Does Ten Tec have a sufficient number of the
additional filters on-hand if 50% of the RX366 kit customers want them?".
That is not really my concern except that I will want at least one set of
them on-hand when I purchase the RX366. I purchase the stripped down
versions when I must, but much prefer the equipment to be fully populated,
tuned and tested from the factory. I assume that this is a case of simply
stabbing/inserting a few more plug-in filters onto the motherboard with no
additional board-level hardware tuning required.

Ray (and others) asked for an RX366 update.
We are doing another 599 run, it is selling very well. Which is good news
for the RX366. Since the RX366 is mostly based on Eagle boards, when we set
up for stuffing the 599 boards, we can build more of the same board for
multiple products without the cost of tearing down the mydata "stuffer" and
setting it back up for a different board. Helps save costs. A good thing in
these times.
The Fracn and the TXRX boards for the 599 and the RX366 are now
built/stuffed. The preselector still needs to be run for both, and will be
done very soon. The motherboard for the RX366 will then be built. This will
happen in a couple of weeks.
Manuals are basically complete, getting tweaked per reviewers inputs.
The V3 firmware is still in beta test phase. We are maybe 1 major update
round away from releasing it to the general public. (again, optimistic me)
Note, the V3 firmware is required when using an RX366, however it still
works with the existing second receiver. Brings a few features and resolves
a few V2 bugs as well. The V3 firmware in itself brings a few very desirable
new features that helps contesting by reducing some key presses, and
allowing for tracking of certain setup items from main to sub RX via user
customization. Listening to our customers to what they think matters most in
the heat of battle.
My current, albeit optimistic, plan is to finish the beta testing soon,
eliminating all known "show stopper" type bugs and as many "minor irritant"
type bugs as possible. Then release V3 firmware before Christmas to the
general ham community. (optimistic, meaning, lots of holiday/vacation time
will be used up between now and end of
year)
We still plan on shipping the RX366 hardware in January, probably mid to
end, just to be realistic.
As announced at the TenTec Hamfest.
We are still meeting our projected ship price $639.00. (comes with one
filter pre-installed, cables, instructions, etc.) As announced at the TenTec
Hamfest.
So far, beta testers have been very happy with the RX366's performance in
hard contest conditions and in DX. They are also very happy with the V3
firmware and what it brings to the non-RX366 installed units.
Beta testers are free to comment about their experience thus far.
So it looks like we will meet our projected ship dates we announced at the
TenTec Hamfest. "Early 2012", and anticipated price of $639.00
Technically, we are calling it a kit, but in reality, it is a set of boards
and cables. No soldering required. One shrink wrap tubing to place on a now
unused cable, or tape off as you wish.
Thanks for the interest,
John Henry
