Once again, the point is missed. There is a lead on the accessory jack if I
wanted to just use a straight key or an external keyer. We covered that
earlier. Let me try this again:
I WOULD LIKE TO USE THE INTERNAL KEYER. IT IS WHAT I DO ON MY OMNI VI+'S
THAT IS ONLY SUPPORTED FROM THE FRONT PANEL. I KNOW I CAN DRILL A HOLE AND
MOUNT A 1/8" STEREO JACK ON THE REAR PANEL TO DO THIS. I DON'T WANT TO DRILL
THAT HOLE!!!
I SAID IN MY FIRST E-MAIL THAT I KNOW I'M ANAL. NONE OF THE ANSWERS ADDRESS THE
ORIGINAL THOUGHT.
Now that I've had that rant, I'll just plug the key into the front panel using
a right-angle 1/4" stereo plug. It'll work fine and I'll be happy with it. Yes,
I am a ham. I've built, modified and repaired a lot of equipment. So There!!! I
was just stating a wish for the future.
As for the remark that it isn't difficult to disconnect and rerun the cable
from the front jack, this is a stereo jack. I'd have to use both spare RCA
jacks to do that. One for dit, and one for dah, and color code the 2 cables so
I always got them in the right jacks. NO THANKS

I would just use the key line on the accesory cable. If my memory is
correct, this is the black female RCA jack omn the acessory cable. This key
line is great for straight keys and external keyers since it does not matter
if the imternal keyer is turned on or not. And this line works for both
keying in CW and PTT in SSB.
