If you look a t the photo of the rear of the 599 there seems to be a knock-out
to the left of the KEY connector.

Was there a thought of an RJ-45 connector at this location.
You'd think that adding an SMA or BNC jack somewhere on the back of the rig AT
THE FACTORY with a 9 MHz output would not be difficult. The buffer amp could
be
external with power off one of those much maligned RCA jacks. (I believe
Clifton Laboratories makes such a unit in a shielded enclosure.)
Without a look at the interior of the 599 we can speculate about how easy or
difficult it might be to add a 9 MHz output. If Ten-Tec could easily add the
output (ideally a buffered output) at minimal cost they'd have another feature
on the Eagle that doesn't exist on contemporary rigs from other manufacturers.
As to whether or not an external panadapter or other external SDR receiver is
needed is your choice. Just like the Ext Spr jack or the ACC1 jack. But if
the
9 MHz output is there at least you have that choice.
I've added the IF ouput to my Orion (565) and love it! If you're curious check
out at the video link on my website!
