Steve,
I was a "analog" hold-out for many years.... I bought my Corsair II during the
last production run, kept it (still have it), traded the Paragon I also
purchased during the last production run of that model for an OMNI VI+ during
its last production run. I recently purchased a new OMNI VII and sold the OMNI
VI+.
Thus far I've been impressed with the OMNI VII and have made comments and
suggestions regarding BW and Mode splits for DXing and contesting on the TenTec
forum, OMNI VII yahoo group, TenTec Wiki and the DXLab yahoo group. From what
I've seen thus far, in comparing the two, I'd still take the OMNII VII with 300
and 500 Hz mechanical filters over the Eagle for DXing and Contesting. Others
may see it differently but after thirty-three years and 342 entities confirmed
and verified by the DX Desk, I know what I want in a radio. Still the Eagle
provides a lot of radio at a lower price point.
