This is the radio that the Omni VII should have been.
Somebody said it before: this is exactly an updated OMNI VI.
I think the following sums up the radio:
IMD3 Dynamic Range: 100dB/20kHz, 99dB/2kHz, 300 Hz BW, preamp off
Blocking Dynamic Range: 141dB/20kHz, 130dB/2kHz, 500 Hz BW, preamp off
LO Phase Noise: -132dBc/Hz@20kHz, -121dBc/Hz@2kHz
Summary, the radio does not degrade much as the two disturbing stations get
closer and closer together.
The RX is very good! The $4000 radios are a little better but these specs
are better than most people require.
If the specs prove true, the performance is quite a bit ABOVE an FT-950, and
close enough (for most of us) to that of a K3.
Funny: I did not see an S-Meter of any type; not even any LED bars. I'm
sure there is one. Maybe it's on the back panel - hi
This radio is priced much LESS THAN a K3.
The entry level K3 with 10w is $1500 in kit form. With 100w it's $1950 as a
kit.
The entry level K3 with 10w, assembled is $1700. With 100w it's $2200
assembled.
Mind you, you'll want a few more options with the K3 as well.
If this had been available, I probably would not have bought my K3.
GOOD LUCK WITH THIS, TEN-TEC!
