[TenTec] Windows 7

I am thinking about buying a new laptop with Windows 7. I have a oldlap top 
with windows 95 and it works great talking to my rig and sending cw. I made up 
serial cable to key the Orion II
I have a newer desktop with xp and it chops the cw up.
Will the new laptops send cw like my old windows 95 laptop or must I use 
something like MicroHam II to get the laptop to send smoth cw?
