According to the Wikipedia article, the BC-610 was the Signal Corps version
of the HT-4, and over 25,000 of them were built during WW2 by "Hallicrafters
and other allied companies"

I think it's pretty reasonable to assume that in time of war, when the
Military needs so many radios -- now -- that manufacturing would be
subcontracted (by the military or the original contractor) to multiple
manufacturers. Heck, that's why so few of the original WW2 Jeeps were built
by the designer, Willy's!

Even so, I'm pretty sure that Hallicrafters was not the only
manufacturer of the BC-610. The BC-610 is probably a Hallicrafters
design, yet like many designs built for the military in those days, it
may have been manufactured by more than just the company that originated
the design. For instance the R-390 receiver is known to have been built
by Collins, Motorola and at least one other company.
