I doubt if your pod will ever fail.
My RIT/XIT rarely works. Lately, I've been using the N4PY software to
control the RIT/XIT. That always works.
I also programmed a user control on my DXLabs Commander to control the
RIT when I'm not using the N4PY software. The Commander controlled RIT
always works.
I would assume that the pod, like computer commands, completely bypasses
the encoder and its associated components.
