There is a major difference if you are using a short antenna with low radiation
impedance. 90 % or more of the output can get lost in the coax when it is in
that situation longer than a couple of feet.
If you really want to see out how much difference it makes run the TLW
program that is included in the latest ARRL Antenna book.
