My understanding to the whole Omni name scheme is that Ten-Tec first introduced
the Omni A (analog dial) and Omni D (digital dial). Later, they decided to
improve both models by changing some of the front controls and adding some
other features. These became the Omni A, Series B and Omni D, Series B.
A later model was called Omni C, but should have correctly been named Omni D,
Series C. It introduced the new WARC bands to the Omni D series. By that time,
no more analog Omnis were being made.
